Job Description

Procurement Buyer (12 month FTC) - Kent - Fast-paced and Dynamic Business

This is a great opportunity for a Buying/Procurement Specialist to join a specialist supplier known for their innovative and high quality product range. This is a key appointment for the business, with the ability to directly contribute to the creation and development of a bespoke, on-trend product range.

What does the Procurement Buyer role involve?

  • Working closely with key internal stakeholders with regards to Sales and Product Development briefings.

  • Creating and maintaining strong working relationships with existing and new suppliers to ensure alignment of business objectives alongside monitoring and review of supplier performance.

  • Ensuring smooth operation and communication between suppliers and internal stakeholders; resolving and responding to concerns or issues with appropriate action.

  • Manage to end to end buying process working very closely with Design and Product development teams; obtaining quotes for sales, full negotiation of costs and terms, sample approval and related activities.

  • Ongoing development of market knowledge for new product and service development. Ongoing forecasting, tracking of SLAs and rebates, producing regular and ad-hoc reporting.

Essential Skills and experience required for this Buying/Product Development Assistant role:

  • Experience in a Buying/procurement focus position in a retail or supplier environment.

  • Proven experience liaising directly with suppliers to negotiate the best terms possible in relation to goods and services.

  • Be an effective communicator, with an ability to deal diplomatically at all levels, both internally and externally.

  • Have excellent planning and organisational skills to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Advanced experience of working with Outlook and Microsoft Excel

  • Have strong numerical skills, ability to work accurately with data
