**Press Officer - Hertfordshire - £30,000**

Our client is an industry leading retailer with a large presence across the UK.

This important role will focus on creating positive press coverage that will in turn drive brand awareness and commercial success. They have a PR agency that will be fully focused on delivering award winning brand campaigns so you'll have the opportunity to get involved and develop in the role. As this job will be responsible for day to day media relations you must have proven experience in establishing and maintaining media contacts. The Press Officer will report into the Senior PR & Social Executive but will also build a strong network across the retail business.

Key responsibilities of this Press Officer role include:

  • Managing the day to day product placement strategy, proactively working with the Buying team to ensure the range is regularly featured across top tier traditional, online and social media

  • Responding to media opportunities and other incoming enquiries from journalists

  • Fulfilling product, image and information requests within strict deadlines

  • Building direct relationships with key journalists across target media

  • Working with the insight team to uncover interesting trends and data that can be used to fuel the press office

  • Working with the Marketing and Social media team to exploit opportunities across all relevant marcomms channels

  • Working with suppliers to fulfil sample requests

  • Monitoring the news agenda and reporting back on hot topics and potential opportunities

  • Coverage logging and reporting

  • Writing media materials including press releases, quotes and reactive statements

  • Maintaining press kit materials

  • Maintaining PR coverage reports and value tracker

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • At least one year media relations experience

  • An English, Journalism or Humanities degree

  • Experience establishing and maintaining media contacts (traditional and social).

  • Proven ability to write well and prepare information to a high standard

  • Experience of prioritising tasks and setting expectations with media and internal stakeholders

  • Able to demonstrate a knowledge of food trends and developments

  • Excellent stakeholder management
