As marketing budgets go this is going to be a small one. No big agencies to call upon, no massive team and no pot of cash for PR. However, you will have an open book creatively, an eager young team desperate to learn and a Board of Directors who will listen and support. The organisation operates in a sector where you can clearly see how you are contributing to individuals and society as a whole. There is a clear purpose, which let's be honest is a lot easier to market than your run of the mill consumer product. With the opportunity to grow your team and your budget in parallel with the growth of the business you will have plenty of opportunity to develop along the way. With plans to double turnover it's going to be a lot of fun.
It's a cliché but it's going to be pretty varied, you'll be coaching a member of the team on how to use Twitter one minute and building a marketing plan to present to the board the next. You'll be used to getting the best out of the various social channels and adept at content marketing. A strong PR strategy will be crucial to the role and you will work closely with the CEO and MDs to create opportunities to build the organisation's reputation. Additionally, you'll be tasked with spotting commercial opportunities to open up new revenue streams.
