Head of Buying
Do you love developing people and delivering strategy?
Can you manage up to board level and lead a independent thinking team?
This is no ordinary Head of Buying role. The company prides itself on being creative, fun and passionate! There has been a huge amount of change in the organisation and they are still not through the otherside. You will need to fight for sales in a competitive market, but drive growth, establish ways of working and build relationships.
There are two main focus areas:
Firstly developing and driving an a independent thinking team.
You have a strong capable team who have built excellent credibility in the market with suppliers and customers and are also excelling growing sales. They do require support with their own development and need coaching with range sign offs, own brand development and guidance in working through the change in the business, the cultural differences, new ways of working and establishing the best way to communicate.
You also have the autonomy for developing and delivering the strategy that is all about the customer.
This Category is fast as lots of trends so it's about picking the long term winners and short term cash generators. You'll be pushed to do more - it's retail - and small growth is not enough, you'll be pushed hard to deliver exceptional growth. In return you'll be involved in leading projects across the business and receive lots of development and support from the board and directly make an impact on both the category and team. If you want a challenge where you can make you mark and be stretched - this is the role for you.
What do you need to have:
Established Head of Buying in retail ideally having worked in a fast paced, high volume category
Experience creating and delivering a strategy
Examples of effectively building a team
Resilience, passion and courage
I have a great JD I can share and have taken the brief from the Director / Line Manager and the person currently doing the role.
