Job Description

Recognised as a brand whose strong values and culture are at the heart of their success, our client is now looking for a Buyer - Beer & Wine to lead and inspire the team (6 direct reports), ensuring continued delivery of the best possible service to their customers.

What does this Buyer - Beer & Wine role involve?

Based in London, the Buyer - Beer & Wine will be responsible for growing the category, ensuring you maintain the inspirational product range that meets customer's needs, builds brand value, drives sales and profit growth and improves market share across all channels.

With an outstanding track record of commercial success in a senior trading or buying role in a BWS related category, you'll be experienced at leading, developing and inspiring a high-performing retail commercial team. Able to quickly grasp the key business drivers, you'll hit the ground running and plan and direct activities to achieve agreed targets - sales, gross margin and net margin. Hands-on and practical you'll enjoy the wide range of challenges and opportunities that our fast-moving and highly focused wholesale business has to offer.

What qualities will you need to be successful in this Buyer - Beer & Wine role?

  • You will need to be commercially aware of both your category and overall business, with the ability to make effective decisions to ensure successful performance.

  • Show a proven track record of developing and implementing supplier strategy and identifying opportunities to improve performance of your category.

  • You will be greatly influential and an engaging leader, who can build excellent relationships and manage small cross functional teams.

  • Be a strong and confident negotiator and an excellent communicator across the business.

  • Show tenacity to achieving results whilst recognising and celebrating the success of others.

  • Be comfortable and have experience with worldwide travel to meet suppliers. Negotiate and build lasting relationships based on your strategy and vision for your category.

  • You will have 6 direct reports, so managerial experience is needed for the right candidate.
