Assistant Merchandiser - Birmingham - up to £33k. This a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Merchandiser to join a market leading specialist homeware supplier with a broad product range and a collaborative working culture. This is a key appointment for the business will allow the opportunity to directly add value to the success and growth of the business through effective forecasting and management of the category.
What does the Assistant Merchandiser role involve?
You will lead the planning of sku metrics to include seasonal sales plans, buffer stock calculations and factory lead time management. Improve forecast accuracy through continuous analysis of product and account trading sku specific data.
You will lead the conversion of volume production capacity plans and accurate shipment schedules in line with OTB phasing parameters.
From order placements through to delivery, you will ensure effective critical path management.
You will undertake and deliver seasonal and quarterly forecasts to suppliers regarding volume commitments and shipment and delivery expectations, escalating purchasing and trading issues to senior management and buyers with proposed actions to resolve.
Identification and recommendation of appropriate actions within volume and cost rations through analysis of supplier delivery and margin performance.
You will monitor and manage stock availability through ensuring adherence of planned launch and replenishment dates, in line with internal and external customer guidelines.
Continuous interpretation of seasonal performance to identify recommendations within growth opportunities for Category sales, margin and availability.
Collaboration with Buying teams in recommendations within Category sku life cycle management and impact on sales and production forecast.
Serving internal stakeholders and maximising supply chain impact through the establishment and maintenance of strong working relationships with Buying, Sales, Distribution and Quality.
Essential Skills and experience required for this Assistant Merchandiser role:
Minimum 2 - 3 years' experience in retail merchandising. With planning experience in owned and sourced brands, as well as third party ones.
Experience of planning large sku widths of offer with diverse rate of sale and channel distribution, in FMCG/homewares industry and a retail/ECOM background.
Experienced in forecasting and managing OTB with relevant interpretation into production plan. Interpretation of customer forecasts in large multi-source formats.
Strong systems skills; Excel (Macros, V-Lookups and Pivot Tables), Micro- Strategy, Business Objects or relevant data analytics tool necessary for comparison of large samples of category and customer data. SAP experience an advantage
Familiar with dealings with a far-east supplier base and knowledge of shipping and UK Clearance procedures. Experience in monitoring of KPI factors of Stock Availability, Fulfilment, Stock Turn and Inventory Value.
Strong character - be objective and able to manage confrontational situations. Eager to learn and develop with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
