Assistant Buyer - North West - up to £28k

Are you a confident decision maker with the ability to make important commercial decisions under pressure?

Our client is a very well-known UK high street retailer. They are looking for an Assistant Buyer to join their expanding team, where there are excellent progression opportunities!

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities of this Assistant Buyer role:

  • To support the buying function through supplier set up, new line set up, management of pricing, markdowns and funding

  • To manage product ranges in line with the critical path through Merchandising, Visual Merchandising, Space Planning, Store Operations and Marketing,

  • Present new ranges to the senior buying team,

  • Develop individual supplier management plans and manage suppliers for your area of responsibility,

  • To work with the team on delivering the wider buying strategy,

  • To propose promotional activities to the business, working with merchandising team,

  • Creation of spreadsheets and analysis to ensure delivery of department objectives,

  • Support the development of the BAA,

  • Attend relevant Trade fairs,

  • To undertake other ad hoc duties & project work, which are relevant to the role.

Person

To be successful in this position as Assistant Buyer you will need;

  • Experience of managing the buying process at an Assistant Buyer level within a retail or wholesale environment

  • Knowledge of the complete buying process essential

  • Proven track record of delivering results and meeting targets

  • Demonstrates commerciality through understanding market opportunities, maximising sales and positively impacting profitability

  • Ability to analyse and interpret information, engaging stakeholders to make informed decisions, and deliver business focused solutions

  • Able to build effective relationships across all levels within an organisation

  • Evidence of working with suppliers, & demonstrating strong negotiation skills

  • Passion for the industry, products and the customer

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including IT proficiency

  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team
