Assistant Buyer - Home & Outdoor Living

Do you have buying experience but also love the numbers?

Are you a Merchandiser that loves product?

Your role is to support the buying team in delivering the garden accessories and home products categories for this online retailer, affiliate sites and store. You will cover product ranging, pricing,promotional activity and accurate product information.


You will support your Buyer, Stock Manager and Product Design Manager to ensure that all products offered are presented accurately acrossthe website and store in terms of image,pricing and stock availability.

*Work closely with the copywriter/suppliers to deliver appropriate and accurate product text and images
*Take responsibility for own product categories under the supervision of Buyer
*Liaise with suppliers to source product, pricing and stock supply information
*Implement range review changes on the websites in conjunction with the Buyer
*Implement price changes and monitor margins escalating issues to Buyerwhere required
*Implement promotions in conjunction with the Buyer/e commerce team with
a high level of accuracy
*Update websites as required and highlight opportunities for improvement in terms of
images/videos, text, promotions, linked products and logos
*Run ad hoc reports when required to analyse product sales/margin and identify
*Conduct key competitor pricing reviews as required. Identifying range and pricing
*Attend trade shows and visit supplier showrooms when required

 *Preferably of Graduate calibre or equivalent however, this should not deter
candidates who can demonstrate ability and a willingness to succeed.

 *Experience of retail buying, ideally FMCG experience

 *Numerate

 *Intermediate excel skills (Google docs)

 *Experience of working with a product/stock database system

 *Good planning and organisational skills

 *Ability to work to time pressures in a fast moving and rapidly changing market

 *Basic Level financial awareness and ability to interpret data

 *Good interpersonal skills - A team player

 *Driving Licence

Key results/objectives
 All `live' products on website with correct key information e.g retail price
 Product availability is maximised at all times
 Promotions set up and managed on a timely basis
 Product information and details sourced in good time to meet e mail and catalogue
 Issues escalated to Product Buyer on a timely basis to expedite resolution
 Competitior analysis conducted in conjunction with Buyer as required
