Buying/Product Development Assistant - Maidstone - up to £24k - Fast-paced and Dynamic Business

This is a great opportunity for a Buying Assistant or Product Development Assistant to join a specialist supplier known for their innovative and high quality product range. This is a key appointment for the business, with the ability to directly contribute to the creation and development of a bespoke, on-trend product range.

What does the Buyer/Product Development Assistant role involve?

  • Working with key internal stakeholders with regards to creating commercial, on-trend products; project managing the product development cycle and critical path. Manage the receipt & approval of red seals in line with critical path target dates. Ensure they are labelled & stored away.

  • Pro-active market research, identification of trends and competitive threats to feed the product development process and sourcing of new components - negotiation of cost, ensuring fit for purpose and managing minimum order requirements.

  • Feeding ideas, trends and finding to key contacts to contribute to the visualisation, presentation and creation of concept products for review.

  • Attendance in key product development meetings and reviews to improve understanding of outcomes, ensuring all actions and recommendations following customer feedback are completed in a timely manner.

  • Update and maintain database in an accurate and timely manner, forecasting stock requirements ensuring appropriate availability for future needs. Creation of final artwork including pack copy templates; ensuring that all necessary information is received within customer expectations.

Essential Skills and experience required for this Buyer/Product Development Assistant role:

  • Be an effective communicator, with an ability to deal diplomatically at all levels, both internally and externally.

  • A good understanding of Buying/Sourcing and/or Product Development

  • Have excellent planning and organisational skills to ensure deadlines are met.

  • Ability to demonstrate a creative innovative approach to problem solving.

  • Capable of working unsupervised and able to use own initiative.

  • Can multi-task and is happy to be challenged by a fast pace role with a high interruption level.

  • Have strong numerical skills, ability to work accurately with data

  • Experience of working with Outlook and Microsoft Excel - PhotoShop an advantage.
