As Head of Online, you will be reporting directly into the group Ecommerce Director, with responsibility for managing the aggressive growth of the site, optimising the Customer experience and delivering EBITDA targets or this growing retailer. A commercial all rounder who can both trade the site and manage the overall operation, you need to have a hands on attitude due to the fact that this is a new position leading a new team. With a track record of success of either launching a new website to market or re-launching a website to perform better, you will have commercial acumen and be experienced in managing a P&L for an E-Commerce business. You will also need to be a highly competent digital marketer whose knowledge of search will be complimented by an analytical mind to ensure ROI optimisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Build a team to support the delivery of agreed KPIs with particular focus on the Customer experience

  • As Head of Online you will have P&L management and cost control

  • Work closely with the digital agencies to deliver, at pace, profitable customers to the site, monitoring and optimising the performance of marketing campaigns to maximise ROI

  • Deliver continuous on-site optimisation and

  • Define objectives and deliverables to improve visitor traffic, promote engagement and increase new customer acquisition growth

  • Working closely with Purchasing in merchandising the site and setting the pricing hierarchy; and Supply Chain to ensure an efficient delivery model

  • Review online customer buying behaviour through the use of web analytics tools to identify areas for improvement and recommend the most effective strategies

  • Conduct competitor reviews to ensure the site's pricing remains market leading

  • Identify innovation opportunities to support the brand through digital channels

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, with strong commercial acumen and the ability to deliver at pace

  • Previous experience in launching a fully optimised website is preferred, but not essential

  • Clear knowledge and understanding of SEO, PPC, affiliate marketing and display advertising

  • Demonstrable experience of content management systems (to drive front end) and managing developers (to drive back end)

  • Educated to degree level, in marketing or a related subject advantageous but not essential

  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills

  • Strong budget management skills

  • Excellent communication / interpersonal skills both written and verbal

  • Competent in Google analytics and using web trends for evaluation

  • Detail orientated
